Hello! My name is KASHIF (pronounced KAA-SHIF), but I usually go by KASH. Growing up within a conservative South-Asian immigrant family, I was expected to take the traditional path of pursuing a safe career. However, being a misfit and a bit of a weirdo :), I was always more interested in music and art, which was something that was not well-received by my father. Yup! Good luck trying to imagine a South-Asian dad reacting towards his son wanting to pursue music lol…
Music for me has always been a way to escape reality, and the art of DJ-ing came naturally to me. It became a powerful tool for me to cope with the challenging times of my life. I remember vividly the year 2009, when I was buried under student loans and struggling to find balance between my studies, work, and social life. It was a period of intense stress and pressure, and I felt like I was living a life that was not my own. After experiencing a heartbreak, I took a brave decision of taking a couple of semesters off from University, and focused on doing things that made me happier. Through the art of DJ-ing, I found a way to express my creativity while connecting with others, and it created a sense of purpose that had been missing from my life.
In 2010, I purchased my first DJ gear from Amazon and started practicing with it. In the beginning, I mostly did it for fun in order to alleviate my depression & stay busy. However, as I improved and gained more experience, word began to spread, and bookings started rolling in. I was able to use my earnings to slowly pay my way through college over time. Despite some setbacks such as the struggle of watching my father lose his battle with cancer in 2018, I was able to complete my bachelors-degree before he passed away. I am grateful that my father was able to see his son graduate in front of him, and I will always cherish that memory!
Despite holding various corporate job titles throughout the past decade, DJ-ing has been something that has held my interest the most, and it continues to inspire me. I strongly believe that we are all a work-in-progress, and age is just a number. Everyone’s on their own timeline, and we all handle adversity differently. I always strive to treat people with respect & kindness, and life has surely opened many new doors, experiences, and opportunities for me along the way. As a wedding DJ, I’ve crossed paths with countless amazing people from all cultures, and walks of life. Each experience has helped me grow as a person and develop more confidence along the way. I make it a priority to ensure that everyone I work with leaves with a positive and memorable experience when we part ways!
Becoming a master of our craft is a journey that involves countless sleepless nights and a relentless pursuit for improvement. As a wedding DJ, I know firsthand about all the physical and mental efforts that are required to plan and execute each event flawlessly. Despite the challenges, I find joy in the creative process and am honored to offer my services to those who genuinely entrust me with their special day. Looking back, I never imagined that I would someday become a DJ. It took courage to believe in myself and take the first steps towards pursuing my passion. While the road has been challenging, I am grateful for all the experiences and opportunities, and I will continue to strive for excellence and to leave a positive impact on all of my clients’ lives! I love infusing my mixing and MC skills to keep guests entertained, and love to help my clients create memories that will last a lifetime!
